What is a Book Want?
When you want a book and you
can't find it yourself, there is probably a bookseller or collector
someplace who has a copy. At IMC we can help in two ways, one is free,
one
is not. In neither case is success guaranteed either quickly or ever.
Book Wants
Page - Free Listing
Send
an email to IMC. One email for one book wanted. We can only list one
book for free. Your email
"contents" (max.40 English words) will be added to our Book Wants
List page. Include your email address as well as book
title and other details (author, ISBN, publisher, year published, etc).
Anyone who can
supply you with the book or relevant information will contact you
directly. Each new Book Want will be added at or near the top of the
list. Old Wants will be deleted without contacting you after three
months. You may resubmit the Want. What if you don't know title or
other details,
but you know the subject? For example: Books published in English in
Japan in 1946. Such requests will be accepted, but they are harder to
reply to and thus less likely to get results. You must follow the
simple rules: (a) Use the
following email link. (b) Do not make any change to the pre-entered
Subject. (c) Start the contents of your message with the Book's Title.
(d) Keep the total length of the message at 40 words or less. (e) Be
sure to include your name and email address. (f) Send
here.
We do not assume any responsibility. You should take normal precautions
when dealing
with people you do not know. You may Want one book and
there is
no charge. If you Want more than one book there will be a charge of
Yen 2,000 ($20.00) per five books.
Book Search in
Japan - Not free
We are in Japan and can try to find books. The minimum search
fee is
Yen 10,000 (US$100.00). Old books may take months or years to locate,
but most books can be found (or not found) within one month. The search
fee is the same whether the book is found or not. Our specialty is
English, but we can also search for Japanese and other language books.
If we find a book, we will tell you where it
can be obtained. You may choose to buy it from IMC or through some
other channel. Use this
email
address to order and we will reply with an invoice.
Search first
Before you post a Book Want or ask us to do a Book Search,
search the links
here. Abebooks or other specialists in Europe or
Japan links may have what your bookseller and Amazon don't have.
