The Iriya district lies between Uguisudani and Asakusa, between Ueno and Minowa. Not much big here but it is an interesting place once you get to know it. Most people probably use the Hibiya Subway Line to come to Iriya (station H-18). There is also a bus but not recommended for your first visit to Iriya. You can easily walk here from Asakusa or Uguisudani if you like a 10-minute walk, perhaps 15-20 minutes from Ueno (past the motorcycle shops and under the expressway, past 24 Kaikan) or from Minowa.
We suggest you come here using the Hibiya Subway Line. If coming from the direction of Ginza and Ueno, get off at the back of the train (small x in map on the Uguisudani side of the street. Cross the street. There is a supermarket on the left (Yen100 shop on 2nd floor). Walk toward Asakusa 4 short blocks; turn left at 7-11 convenience store. Walk 2 short blocks and we are just ahead on the left. There is nothing on the first floor of the Centre Bldg except entrance to the parking tower.
If you walk past our office you will come to a shopping street. Small shops and restaurants, also a small hotel. There is also another exit of the Iriya station, but it is not so convenient for us. Pretty good value as this is a low rent but convenient area (if not beautiful). If you go back to the main street and walk toward Asakusa, you will come to the Sakura Ryokan (on a street that angles off to the left) which is popular with many foreign visitors. Sakura Ryokan sells some Lonely Planet travel guides, also the big Asakusa View Hotel drugstore (1st floor).
