Who are we?
Here is a list of staff at IMC and the authors, editors and other folks we work with in Tokyo and the USA.
IMC is a small loosely organized company so titles are meaningless and job descriptions only approximate.
The Office
Warren E. Ball Warren founded Intercontinental Marketing Kabushiki Kaisha in 1959. Today he assists the company as consultant. At various times in his life he and IMC have worked for or represented departments of Procter & Gamble, the Harvard Business Review, McGraw Hill magazines, Asiaweek, Forbes Global, Instrument Society of America, DMS (Forecast International), American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics, PennWell Publishing Co., Lonely Planet, Yawata Iron & Steel, Oversea Courier Service, taught at Waseda University and more.
Tetsuo Fujimoto
Tetsuo came to IMC after working as an accountant. His accounting experience helped IMC keep its books straight, and his meticulous precision serves well to keep keep the company's periodicals import business running smoothly. His main customers are the large Japanese government and industrial organizations. Today a substantial amount of the information business has moved from paper to online. Tetsuo is a devoted computer fanatic.
Kuniko Ito
Kuniko has taken over the work previously handled by Hajime Saito who retired March 31, 2007. Kuniko now also handles sales to the retail book trade. IMC distributes books by many small English publishers in Japan, imports technical/business books, and has been selling Lonely Planet travel guides since the days when LP was a near startup.
Kuniko Ito
Kuniko's early career was with the Mitsubishi Bank. She came to IMC looking for a job that would give her experience in international business and travel. She has traveled but never reached her original goal of Peru. Kuniko handles technical book imports, exports of Japanese journals, many financial and office tasks.
Liz Adams
Born in Tokyo. Educated, without great merit, in Japan, France and the USA. For decades a dennizon of Manhattan, Liz now plies her trade in Los Angeles along with Tomas, her drummer and translator Swedish husband, and a dirty cat. Liz is IMC's hidden weapon for reaching the USA market.
Authors & Editors
Donald Richie
Donald needs no introduction. No other expat author in Japan has written so much over such a long period. IMC distributes the new  TOKYO NIGHTS and A VIEW FROM THE CHUO LINE.
Leza Lowitz
Leza has made a name for herself in the USA and Japan as poet, writer, editor and yoga instructor. IMC distributes her stories GREEN TEA TO GO and poems 100 ASPECTS OF THE MOON.
Hillel Wright
Hillel is a writer, teacher, retired fisherman, and renegade hippie from the Vietnam era. His stories have appeared in many publications and in book form include ROTARY SUSHI and ALL WORLDLY PURSUITS. He edited the anthology FACES IN THE CROWDS. These three books are distributed by IMC. Hillel is currently working on a novel.
Michael Hoffman
Michael is a journalist and writer supplying feed to Tokyo's English newspapers. Thanks to modern communications, he is able to do this from a house in the healthy quiet of rural Hokkaido. He is also a novelist. IMC distributes THE COAT THAT COVERS HIM and would like to do more of his work.
