Greetings authors & editors. Still not much here but we have now added the "template" page. The object is to make it easy for authors to create a semi-finished page on each of their books. Send the page(s) to me. I will then add a little polish and promotion, and then put the page online. The idea is that the template page will speed up the process of putting a book online. The result should be that new books get online faster and older books that might be overlooked get online. You MUST supply us with one (2 preferred, 10 needed if we are to do some promo extras) no-charge copy that we will use to make a cover scan, for display or exhibit, and to test sell. There is another small catch to this ... next paragraph. We will only give a book its own online page if we are going to be able to sell it. We do not have to be the main distributor. It is not necessary that the book has any big sales prospects. But, we MUST be able to get the book from you directly, from your printer, or from other source quickly and at reasonable cost when/if we get orders. We will only "buy-for-stock" after a title has developed a modest track record with us. Somewhat different and not much to our liking is POD (print on demand) publishing/distribution. We can promote POD books but usually there is very little scope for IMC to sell such books. However, the deal for the author may be very inexpensive, professional, and attractive ... but, this is very much case by case. In general, POD publishers do little or no promotion for you, but they do quickly get a book listed in the major bookseller databases and with online booksellers. Please do email me with your comments now or at any time. Do not change the pre-inserted subject line. Cheers, Warren Ball PS - I am again adding and correcting listings in the Japan Publications Guide Service (JPGS, JEPP, JDPA) database. Links are being added one by one. There are over 50,000 titles and 17,000 publisher records. The JPGS is a non-profit exercise, but it is also a constant source of online queries. It is thus important to list all "Japan" titles and as many "East Asia" publications as possible. Volunteer (i.e. unpaid) help will be greatfully welcomed. Let us know if you know someone who might find this tedious work to be fun and educational. It really can be both. The work can be done at home using publisher's catalogs for source info, but it would be best to do it in our office at first.
