Important: R.H. Blyth's books tend to be in very short supply. At any given time we may not have a book that is listed below or the book may be available but at a price that is much higher than we have quoted. The books we offer are mostly new and in top quality. These books are virtually out of print except for limited stocks that are found and released from time to time or for the rare reprinting. The ISBN links may help you find books but these titles are often not listed on Amazon.com. You may have better luck using one of the search boxes on the right; search by title and "Blyth", or just order from us (info at end of page).

Books from Hokuseido

Blyth on haiku poetry, zen and buddhism. R H Blyth was born in Essex, England and emigrated to Japan where he became Professor of English Literature and tutor to Crown Prince (now Emperor) Akihito. If you are in Japan but want the books mailed to you or sent by takkyubin. Takkyubin is faster (one or two days) and safer but costs more (minimum Yen 550 to Tokyo-Osaka regions; double that to distant regions). Postal mail is slower (two to four days) and costs less (Yen 350 anywhere in Japan). These rates are for a  single book. Several books shipped together will cost less per book. Fax your order to Tokyo 03-3876-3627 or email to kunikoi@attglobal.net. We will reply with a firm quote including tax/shipping. Pay and the books will be shipped to you. We do not ship COD. We can accept many types of Yen payment including checks (Tokyo area), bank transfer (all major Japanese banks), and we recommend postal transfer. We accept AMEX and JCB credit cards only, and there is an additional surcharge of about 7% for all card payments. We accept PayPal and recommend it. Cash can be accepted only if sent in the postal registered cash envelope.
If you are outside Japan. Send us your order by fax to 81-3-3876-3627 or by email to kunikoi@attglobal.net and we will reply with a firm quotation in US$. Pay by check in US$, by PayPal, or by Amex or JCB credit card (there is a surcharge on credit card orders). Postal transfers from overseas to our Japanese postal account are accepted. Transfers from overseas to our Yen bank accounts are possible but very expensive and not recommended. Shipment overseas must be by registered-type airmail or shipping service. Cheaper seamail, or SAL (slow airmail) unregistered mail can be sent but we cannot guarantee safe delivery.
If your's is a special situation, tell us and we will try to accommodate your payment/shipping situation.
