The new Encounter series from Lonely Planet is similar to Lonely Planet's "Best of" and "Condensed" quick city guides. Unlike those tall thin books, Encounter books are shorter, fatter, and even more colorful. They are very easy to display. Fine for people taking quick trips, shopping and seeing the sights and sites. Not hotel guides. Not as comprehensive as the larger full city guides such as "Tokyo City Guide 6th edition".
